Did you know that Steven Spielberg interned in various departments at Universal Studios before getting his big break? Disney’s Michael Eisner spent a summer as an NBC page. It’s proof that great creative careers are often launched from an internship.
Take our current intern, Ellyn Miller, for instance. She’s been known to:
…sleep on the cold Cincinnati sidewalks for a chance to see the Reds;
…hang out with documentary and indie filmmakers;
…track down catalog models in the blink of an eye;
…juggle social media with the precision of an X-acto knife;
…perplex me with “would you rather” challenges while assembling stacks of mailers at the production table.
Yeah. Her youthful intern enthusiasm is pretty incredible. That’s why we love her. And why she’s been nominated as “Newcomer of the Year” for Dayton’s Mercury Awards, a program honoring support professionals in our industry. Stay tuned for Thursday night’s announcement from AAF-Dayton / Dayton Creative Syndicate. (By the way, Graphica Production Manager Donna Wright has also been nominated for “Best Print/Specialty Buyer.”)

Like other greats before her, Ellyn’s headed to Hollywood in August to pursue work in the film industry. In the meantime, she’ll be creating with us at Graphica, cheering on Joey Votto, and helping train our new intern, Cara – we’ll introduce her soon.
